Broward County Public Schools reached a historic milestone in the 2024–25 school year, surpassing a 90% graduation rate for the first time in at least 25 years, according to newly released Federal Graduation Rate data from the Florida Department of Education.
The District’s overall graduation rate increased to 91.4%, a 2.4-percentage-point gain from 89% in 2024. The Federal Graduation Rate includes traditional high schools, centers, and charter schools. When reviewing traditional high schools only, excluding centers and charter schools, BCPS recorded a graduation rate of 97.5%, up from 96.2% the previous year.
This achievement reflects the collective leadership that exists across Broward County schools. While no single person is responsible for success at this scale, the results highlight the critical role principals and assistant principals play in cultivating strong school cultures, supporting instructional excellence, and keeping students on track to graduate.
In 2025, all 36 traditional District high schools achieved graduation rates of 90% or higher, with 31 schools reaching 95% or above. Seven District high schools posted 100% graduation rates: Atlantic Technical High School, College Academy at Broward College, Lauderhill 6–12 STEM-MED, McFatter Technical High School, Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, Pompano Beach High School and Sheridan Technical High School. College Academy at Broward College marked its 14th consecutive year with a perfect graduation rate.
Graduation gains were also reflected across student groups. The graduation rate for English Language Learners increased by 5.3 percentage points to 84.6%, while the rate for Black or African American students rose by 3.5 percentage points to 88.9% compared to the prior year.
Several schools demonstrated notable year-over-year improvement, with seven high schools increasing graduation rates by three or more percentage points in 2025. Those schools include Blanche Ely High School, Coconut Creek High School, Deerfield Beach High School, Hollywood Hills High School, J.P. Taravella High School, McArthur High School, and Plantation High School.
The Broward Principals and Assistants Association recognizes this milestone as a testament to the leadership exercised daily by principals and assistant principals. Through strategic leadership, team development, and a relentless focus on student success, school leaders create the conditions that allow educators, students and communities to thrive.
