BPAA Joins Community Effort to Bring Hope to Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

November 1, 2025

The Broward Principals’ and Assistants’ Association (BPAA) joins a communitywide call to action to support Jamaica following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.

In partnership with Broward County Public Schools, BrightStar Credit Union, the Broward County Council of PTAs/PTSAs, the Broward Teachers Union, and the Broward Education Foundation, BPAA is helping spearhead the Jamaica Relief and Recovery Fund—a coordinated effort to collect essential supplies and monetary donations for families in need.

The Hurricane Relief Drive for Jamaica runs Oct. 31 through Dec. 19, 2025, with drop-off locations throughout the county, including BrightStar Credit Union headquarters, the Broward Teachers Union office, the Kathleen C. Wright Administrative Center, and the Technology & Support Services Center.

How to Help

BPAA encourages the community to donate baby care items (diapers, wipes, formula), blankets, tarps, first-aid kits, bottled water, hygiene products, and nonperishable food.

Those wishing to make a financial contribution may donate through the Broward Education Foundation at browardedfoundation.org/jamaica. Checks should be made payable to the Broward Education Foundation with “Jamaica Relief and Recovery Fund” noted in the memo line.

“Principals and assistant principals are not only school leaders—they’re community leaders,” Maxwell added. “BPAA is proud to join our partners in standing with Jamaica and helping families rebuild their lives.”
