Fifteen Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) high schools are ranked among the top 27 percent of all high schools nationwide, according to the 2025–26 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.
Leading the district are Millennium 6‑12 Collegiate Academy, ranked No. 4 in Florida and No. 56 nationally, and Pompano Beach High School, ranked No. 21 in Florida and No. 200 in the nation. Rounding out the district’s top five are William T. McFatter Technical High School, Cypress Bay High School, and Atlantic Technical High School.
Overall, U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 24,000 public high schools across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 were ranked based on six factors: college readiness; state assessment proficiency; state assessment performance; college curriculum breadth; underserved student performance; and graduation rates.
“These rankings are a clear reflection of the leadership happening in our schools every day,” said Dr. Mark Kaplan, Principal of Coral Glades High School and President of the Broward Principals and Assistants Association. “Principals and assistant principals set the tone for excellence by guiding teachers, supporting students and ensuring every classroom has what it needs to succeed. Their work is often behind the scenes, but it is their vision and persistence that allow Broward schools to consistently perform at such a high level.”
“Strong schools don’t happen in isolation—they are built through collaboration with families and the community,” said Lisa Maxwell, Executive Director of the Broward Principals and Assistants Association. “These rankings highlight the impact of school leaders who drive achievement while strengthening the partnerships that help students thrive.”
